Welcome to our new squash members in January – Anne, Christine, John, Jeff, Lou, Dan, Barney, Nicky and Matt.

Any fitness member can try squash, just talk to Joe or Gillian at the front desk and they can help you get started. The squash members are awesome – so friendly and welcoming.

2019 ended on a high note as the Ski Club Challenge was in full swing. Alpine, Craigleith, Moonstone, Devil’s Glen and Blue Mountain all entered teams for the challenge. Over the course of four days, 40+ games of doubles were played by over 40 participants. The level of squash was outstanding. In the end, the team of Blue Mountain proved victorious this year.

Currently we are nearing the end of the Century Tournament. It is a doubles competition, where the combined ages of the team must equal 100 or more. A few upsets have taken place and a few surprises. The finals are set to take place on March 6th. Winners to be annouced! Congratulations to everyone who competed and thank you to all the people who made this tournament a success.

On the singles side, 18 players from the Centre travelled to the Barrie Athletic Club a few weeks ago to participate in a friendly tournament. We started strong, winning most of our early matches. However, Barrie came back and once again it hinged on the last game of the day which we won 3-1. Well done to all who participated. It was a great event and one which we hope to repeat again shortly against Orangeville.

Andrew McKay has started a men’s squash clinic on Thursday night at 6pm, cost $10. Anyone who is interested in attending, come along or book at the front desk
