COVID-19

Providing a safe experience is our #1 priority.
We are continuously evaluating best practices to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
We have invested in equipment and tools, that allows us to keep our facility as safe as possible for our members. We have implemented many safety procedures, some recommended by Simcoe-Muskoka District Health Unit, others we have implemented in order to go above and beyond.
The space we have has been a big factor as to why so many members feel comfortable and safe. MVMT Fitness & Performance is 11,000 square feet, and is a members only club. This has made social distancing relatively easy. We are not a compact busy facility; we have a large open gym floor, and a spacious fitness studio.

Our procedures and protocols
Here you can see an overview of what we currently do in order to provide a safe fitness and squash experience:
- Air Scrubbers
- Virucide Fogging
- Enhanced cleaning protocols
- Temperature checks
- Air ventilation
- Limited capacity
- Member communication
- Lower risk gym times
- Squash: Inter-game cleaning
- Squash: Player Pods
- Members only use
- MVMT's Mask policy
We have invested in 3 commercial air scrubbers. The commercial grade air scrubber & negative air machine is designed to provide advanced levels of air purification.
The fogger sprays a fine mist on our equipment, that thoroughly sanitizes it. We use our virucide fogger multiple times throughout each day.
We have doubled our cleaning hours in order to keep the facility as safe as possible. Our cleaning team has adapted, and is cleaning the higher traffic areas, which get the most use, much more frequently.
Since re-opening, we have implemented a temperature check upon arrival. We use an infrared temperature gun, to screen for symptoms of fever.
We have upgraded the filters within our HVAC unit. Our HVAC and air scrubbers run continually to venitlate the club and filter the air.
The Centre is limited to a 30 person member capacity. However, we have not come close to reaching this capacity at any given time.
From 8.00 am – 10.00 am, Mon-Fri, numbers are limited to 15 people at a time. This is part of our time period for those who are at higher risk.
We continually update and remind our members on best practices within the gym. Everyone has been great at wiping down their equipment thoroughly after use.
For two hours per day, Monday-Friday, 8.00 am – 10.00 am, time is available for members who may be more susceptible to risk
These hours are subject to the following guidelines:
Masks are MANDATORY during entire visit.
Limited capacity to 15 members.
Greater than 6ft physical distancing wherever possible.
We clean both the courts, and the air within the courts between every squash booking.
In accordance with Squash Ontario legislation, squash is limited to “pods” of 10 players. Players must play within their pod. Players may change pod once per month if necessary.
The Centre is a members only facility. We do not permit day fees or drop ins. We also require members to provide a local address in order to join the club.
In accordance with the Simcoe-Muskoka District Health Unit recommendations, members must wear face coverings at all times. However, the face covering may be removed during bouts of moderate to intense physical activity.
Member testimonials

“It is such a great feeling to be back at MVMT. The staff are always safe. The gym is spotless and frequently sanitized while I do my workout. I feel reassured that MVMT Fitness & Performance is doing all they can to keep their members safe during this time!”

i”We did not realize how much we missed going to MVMT. When Covid turned our world upside down it really drove home how much we missed going to the gym.
Kudos to Chris, Joe, Gillian and the rest of the staff for their work on making MVMT Fitness & Performance re-opening a success. The safety protocols in place keep the members safe and socially distanced. We are lucky as a membership to enjoy such a large workout space that makes social distancing easier and more comfortable.”

“Going to MVMT after work was just the norm for me pre – Covid. However, when they closed it down in March I quickly realized how much I missed the friendly staff, the spacious floor filled with equipment, and of course the weight rack. But now, since it’s reopened, and after experiencing / witnessing their new procedures coupled with everyone’s diligence with wiping everything down before and after use, I am just so relieved to have a sense of normality back in my life.”
